Old World Quality Craftsmanship passed down generation-to-generation. From 1879 through the early 1940's my great great grandfather, great grandfather, grandfather, and my father were all involved in commercial and residential construction within the 200 acres of our family owned property located in Los Angeles that became known as HOLLYWOOD.
During the mid 1950's, I began working in the building trades alongside my Dad learning "Old World Quality" building trade techniques past down generation-to-generation, that in turn were passed along to my son Rob and later to my grandson Adam.
In 1963, after my
honorable discharged from active duty in the Armed Forces during the
Vietnam War, I continued my education with emphasis on Business Law
while serving in a managerial position under Civil Engineering with
responsibilities for new construction and maintenance management for
the U. S. Air Force Administration Facility located in El Segundo, CA.
In 1971, we established "Duin Construction" involved in large
Commercial and Freeway reinforced concrete projects to include
commercial, industrial, and residential remolding projects within Los
Angeles County, and later that year we became involved
in roof structural retrofitting and deck and balcony waterproofing restoration projects caused from the Sylmar Quake for
Public Schools, Federal and State projects, Commercial High Rise,
Shopping Centers, Apartment and Condo complexes, Freeway
Overpasses, Reservoirs, Dams, and Residential projects.
In 1976,
we relocated our base of operations to the San Diego County with
equipment storage yards in Encinitas, and Carlsbad while continuing to
service Los Angeles County... We later added the letter "A" to our
business name creating "A DUIN Construction Co., Inc."
In
1985, our son Rob joined us under a 4-Year Apprenticeship program and
in 1990, Rob graduated top of his class from an accredited California
Construction Trade-Tech Center. "We were then awarded the structural retrofitting, and re-roofing contract for that Tech Training Center."
In
1989, we established a construction office with equipment storage yard
in north Escondido allowing improved service access to commercial and
residential projects within San Diego County, Temecula Valley, South
Riverside, San Bernardino County, and Big Bear Lake.
In 1992, we
became involved in residential re-roofing and structural retrofitting and balcony waterproofing projects caused from the Landers Quake near Big Bear Lake.
In
1994, we were again involved in commercial and residential structural retrofitting and re-roofing
projects caused from the Northridge Quake in the San Fernando Valley.
In
2002, Rob advanced to Senior Vice President over Operations. Rob's due diligence, reliability, integrity, his
multi-trade knowledge, and his unwavering dedication prompt
referral-after-referral by satisfied customers.
On October 1, 2011 our son Rob took over total control of the business as President and CEO.
